Dr Edmund Wilkins joined the Green Shoots team in January 2017. He will be assisting with the long-term strategy of our healthcare program, taking part in missions, leading our workshop series for HIV and medical education and lastly, guiding volunteers on medical missions to Myanmar.
Prior to this he worked as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Lead of the HIV Unit at North Manchester General Hospital for twenty-seven years, having initially trained in Infectious Diseases in London and Liverpool, Tropical Medicine in Africa, and Clinical Microbiology and Virology with the Health Protection Agency. During this time, Dr Wilkins has published widely with specific clinical and laboratory research interests in HIV and TB. He has been involved in many executive and advisory national committees and has co-authored numerous National Guidelines relating to all aspects of HIV care since 2000.
Over the last fifteen years, Dr Wilkins has been increasingly engaged in educational projects around the world and remains committed to improving medical education and health care in HIV and other Infectious Diseases where this is most required.
